MEC EDTEA AT WESTVILLE CORRECTIONAL SERVICE CENTRE

“Crime not only affects the economy but it has destroyed many businesses, families, and communities. As we approach the festive season, we must ensure that we work together to have a crime-free festive season,” MEC Siboniso Duma remarked.

Duma has been invited by religious leaders on a visit aimed at providing spiritual guidance to the more than 14,000 inmates.

He stated: “We thank leaders of faith-based organisations and the KZN Provincial Commissioner Mnikelwa Nxele who have intensified the united front crime. We are here to pray with the inmates. Some have asked for forgiveness for the wrong they committed. Others have requested to be empowered with entrepreneurship skills.”

“Upon their release, they want to be integrated into the community and live decent lifestyles as responsible citizens.”
