SALGA in KZN to facilitate the upcoming SCM Symposium Addressing Critical Supply Chain Issues in South African Municipalities SALGA in KZN is gearing up to host the Supply Chain Management (SCM) Symposium, aimed at tackling critical supply chain issues in South African municipalities. The symposium, held under the theme “Leveraging SCM For Inclusive Service Delivery, Enhancing Compliance, and Strategic Advisory,” is scheduled to take place on the 8th and 9th of November at the Protea Hotel, Marriott – Karridene Beach, commencing at 08:00 am.This significant event aims to unite Municipal Chief Financial Officers (CFOs), SCM Heads, SCM Managers, and SCM Practitioners, creating a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration. Its primary goal is to foster excellence in Supply Chain Management (SCM) and procurement within the local government sector. By promoting accountability in specific SCM sectors and keeping SCM officials abreast of the latest trends and developments, this symposium seeks to identify innovative solutions that enhance the efficiency of SCM and Procurement operations.One of the critical issues the symposium addresses is the persistent problem of Unauthorised, Irregular, Fruitless, and Wasteful expenditures that plague the country due to non-compliance with legal regulations and Supply Chain Management policies. The event encourages SCM practitioners to deliberate on strategies that can make SCM a facilitator of effective service delivery. The symposium is a collective effort of all stakeholders involved and represents a significant step toward overcoming the challenges faced by South African municipalities.
